Wow, what a great time I had at the NC Azalea Festival! I met lots of talented and interesting people, saw a beautiful fireworks display over the river, and had a chance to sample "the finest English toffee in the world!". Thanks so much to all the folks who stopped by the stall to chat, browse, and purchase prints.
I got a bunch of comments from passersby on my 16x20" framed praying mantis photograph. Many people had never seen one with its wings open. (Neither had I, before I took that photo.) I even caught a few guys doing praying mantis impressions for their girlfriends. Not that I'm advocating imitating an insect as a means of getting closer to your significant other, but it was quite entertaining to watch. Maybe next time I do a festival I'll have a competition for the best praying mantis impression with a free print going to the winner. The only catch would be that every contestant would have to have their photo taken by me as they pose. I could use some practice with portraits...
Here's a shout-out to the Jacksonville photography group members who stopped by on Sunday and injected a big dose of enthusiasm and good humor into the afternoon. I hope I run into you guys again!
A special thanks to the Wilmington Art Association Spring Art Show and Sale for displaying my huge Hydrangea flowers print at the Hannah Block Community Arts Center. It's an honor to be included in such a talented set of exhibitors.
I hope to be at more shows in the fall. I'm looking especially at events around the Greensboro and Wilmington areas since those are my home bases. As I finalize my schedule, I'll share my news here.
